Le premier raid d'endurance équestre en Namibie s'est couru en 1966 de Veldduin à Maroelaboom. Le premier club d'endurance namibien s'est constitué en 1978 à Grootfontein  et s'appelait "Otjiwanda Uithouritklub".  Le  retrait des troupes de l'Afrique du Sud en 1989 marquait une interruption de la pratique de l'endurance en Namibie.

The first endurance ride in Namibia was held in 1966 between Veldduin and Maroelaboom. The first endurance ride club in Namibia was established in 1978 at Grootfontein and was called "Otjiwanda Uithouritklub". After the withdrawal of the South African Defence Force in 1989 endurance riding stopped in Namibia.
